The Potential of Partnership
We know that, as a global culture, we’ve crossed a threshold into a new era of unprecedented complexity, pace, and diversity, an era that brings with it vexing challenges that no one person or group can address adequately on their own. The only successful way forward calls for equally unprecedented levels of partnership and co-leadership in all areas of our lives, from personal to professional, from social to political.
The Practice of Partnership
Evolving Partnership/Women & Men programs are designed as an orientation to this new era. They are an opportunity to practice principles and skills that will allow us to navigate our changing landscape and engage one another with a sense of meaning and purpose. When we develop our capacity for partnership—when partnership becomes our way of being in the world—we live more fully into the “better angels of our nature” as individuals and intimate partners, as colleagues and leaders.
The Promise of Partnership
In over 20 years of work, we’ve found another striking benefit of bringing people together to explore conflict and partnership in a context of gender. The vulnerability involved in sharing experiences related to gender generates a depth of intimacy and connection in a group of people. When that sense of our common humanity is activated, it opens a back door into productive conversations across other differences like race, sexual orientation, or religion.
